    What work are Licenced Conveyancers authorised to do?

    Licenced Conveyancers are authorised to do all legal work in the buying and selling of property including businesses, mortgage work under $8 million dollars, and the preparation of commercial leases.

    Who licences Licenced Conveyancers?

    The NSW state government through the Department of Fair Trading licences conveyancers in Australia. University qualifications together with two years of practical work with a solicitor or conveyancer are required.

    Are licenced conveyancers insured?

    The issue of the annual Conveyancing Licence is subject to the licencee holding insurance cover for Professional Indemnity insurance for at least $1,200,000. The Department of Fair Trading manages the Fidelity Insurance fund.

    How long have conveyancers been licenced?

    In South Australia since 1849, in New South Wales since 1994. In other states they may be called Land Agents.

    Are there many Licenced Conveyancers in New South Wales?

    There are about 500 licenced conveyancers. Some have their own business and some work for solicitors or other licenced conveyancers.

    • All office costs (postage, faxes, phone calls, photocopying) forming part of the conveyancing work.
    • Obtaining of mortgage “payout figure” from Lender.
    • Booking of settlement with client’s bank or lender.
    • Settlement at our office.
    • Submission of Notices of Disposition.

    Where the property is a unit/apartment, and an Owners Corporation (Body Corporate) is involved, an extra charge will apply for each Owners Corporation Certificate purchased.
